Twelve ideas in and around the town
Puerto del Rosario is a working capital rather than a resort, so the list below mixes public art, two small cultural venues, three city beaches and a few practical stops. It is an editorial selection, not a ranking. Everything is in the town or right next to it. For the rest of the island, see the Fuerteventura highlights.
Two points shape a visit. The Unamuno house is open on weekdays only, and several venues publish no current opening hours. Where that is the case, the entry says so, and you should check before you set off. Prices are as listed in 2026.

Art, history and culture
Entries 1 to 5 are around the centre and El Charco.
1. The sculpture walk
Public art is spread across streets, squares and roundabouts, so this is a walk through town and not one fenced park. It costs nothing and has no fixed hours. Named pieces include the Fuente de la Explanada, Caracolas, Pescador de Viejas and Ofrenda al Mar. Published counts of the collection run from more than 50 to more than 198, depending on what is counted, so do not expect a fixed total.
2. Casa Museo Unamuno
The house at Calle Virgen del Rosario 11 is where the writer Miguel de Unamuno lived in exile in 1924. It shows a middle-class home with items such as a typewriter and a phonograph. Entry is free, and the museum page links free online tickets. It opens Monday to Friday 08:00β14:00 and is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Please do not use flash or eat in the rooms.
3. Hornos de Cal in El Charco
An interpretation centre for the lime industry, built around the old kilns. The government announced on 17 June 2026 that the electrical and surrounding works, including lighting for the kilns, were finished. Opening hours and any entry price are not published, so check the current times before you go.
4. Centro de Arte Juan Ismael
An art centre in El Charco, Calle Almirante Lallemand 30. A cultural directory lists Tuesday to Saturday, 09:00β13:00 and 17:00β21:00. An older programme gave a 10:00 start for exhibition visits, so confirm the hours for the show you want to see.
5. Murals in the streets
The council runs a plan for facade art and holds competitions for murals on public streets. There is no complete, current list of the paintings, so treat this as something to find by walking the streets of the town.

Beaches and the waterfront
Entries 6 to 8 are the city beaches.
6. Los Pozos
The city beach in the bay, close to the centre. The council lists accessible entrances, cleaning and a lifeguard service, and it adds extra water-quality checks every 10 days because a sewage pumping station is nearby. A Blue Flag was confirmed for 2026. Always look at the flag on the day.
All beaches β7. Playa Blanca
A beach of the capital, with a Blue Flag for 2026. It is not the same as Playa Blanca on Lanzarote, where the ferries from Corralejo arrive. The lifeguard period was extended in 2026.
8. Puerto Lajas
A coastal village immediately north of the capital, with a beach and accessibility improvements. It also holds a Blue Flag for 2026.

Markets, shops and stages
Entries 9 to 12 are practical stops and venues that depend on the day.
9. A market visit
There are two markets, and they are not the same. A market directory lists the Mercado Agrario on Saturdays, 08:00β13:00, on Avenida de la ConstituciΓ³n, but that entry was last checked in March 2025. The Mercado Municipal is a different matter: on 28 September 2026 the council approved new rules as a step towards tendering the stalls. Do not assume that a hall is open every day.
10. Las Rotondas shopping centre
At Calle Francisco Pi y Arsuaga 2, a useful rainy-day option. Shops are listed 10:00β22:00 and the hypermarket 09:00β22:00. Public holidays change this: in 2026 the centre listed closures on 18 September and 7 October and opening on 12 October. Check the calendar for your date.
11. Casa de la Cultura
The town's overview lists an exhibition space next to the auditorium for painting and photography. What is on and when you can visit changes, so ask at the venue.
12. Auditorio Insular
A venue for performing arts and other events. It only works as an evening plan if there is a performance on your dates, so look at the programme before you build a day around it.

A sensible half day combines entries 1, 2 and 6 or 7, with the Unamuno house first because it closes at 14:00. If you arrive by ship, the cruise port page shows how far these stops are from the berth. For a longer stay, where to stay compares the capital with the resort areas, and the airport page covers the 5 km to the terminal.
